| Abstract | The use of volume equations is very important for the estimations of wood volume in modern forest inventory systems aimed at representation of information on the volume of timber to be obtained. This study aimed to develop a form factor and a volume equation to estimate the total volume of trade and eucalyptus trees, as well as to analyze whether there are differences to estimate this volume using different methods. 40 trees were rigorously scaled by Smalian method to develop the form factor and adjust the volume equations. The choice of the best equations was performed by the Value Weighted scores. The equation of best fit to estimate the total volume of trade and was unpeeled Ln (V) = -10.0286 + 1.7767*ln(dap) + 1.1336*ln(ht) and V= -0,05504 + 0,00055*dap² + 0,0000006*dap²ht + 0,00415*ht respectively. The average percentage of bark was determined to 17.7% of the total volume; form factor to estimate the volume of trade in shell, was 0.54038 and form factor to estimate bark volume, was 0.46243. There were no statistical differences in the estimation of total and commercial of bark using different methods, so they can be used to estimate the volume of Eucalyptus urograndis . With the use of the volume and/or shape factor equation is possible to quantify precisely the productive potential of the area in order to facilitate the entrepreneur regarding future earnings outlook and possible investments. |
