| Abstract | The purpose of this note is to present the status of studies and the therapeutic and educational approach of people with nonverbal Autism Spectrum Disorder. For this, the conceptualization of the nonverbal condition within the definition of the spectrum, the treatment within the Chilean school system and the specific therapies for the absence of language will be considered. The objective of this analysis is both to critically discuss the treatment alternatives for these children as well as to make visible this variation in autism that, reviewing the documents presented here, has not had the required coverage, which is especially serious given the increase on the diagnosis of this condition in our current society. On the other hand, it is intended to offer families and professionals who serve individuals in this condition a reflective vision based on foreign experiences not explored in our country. |
