| Abstract | The Quarterly Monitor (QM) publishes the reply of Gordana Matković and Boško Mijatović to the article from the previous QM edition under the title “Macroeconomic and Distributional Effects of Efficiency-Driven Tax Reform Proposal” written by Milojko Arsić and Nikola Altiparmakov. We believe that the authors, Matković and Mijatović, failed to convey or properly interpret some of our positions, especially in the segment of alternative approaches to the evaluation of tax fairness. Also, the authors failed to respond to some of our key objections. As the debate on the adequate structure of a tax system poses an important economic and social topic, we wish to refer the interested readers to the texts chronologically following the development of our opposing views – our study Tax Policy in Serbia: Looking Forward and the challenge of proposals made in the Study in the article prepared by Boško Mijatović “Counter and Re-Counter” (NIN, 22 April 2010) and in the column “What can we do” in Politika, as well as the article prepared by Gordana Matković and Boško Mijatović titled “The Effects of Proposed Tax Changes on Poverty Vulnerable Groups in Serbia” and our challenge of their results in the article “Macroeconomic and Distributional Effects of Efficiency-Driven Tax Reform Proposal” followed by this text. |
