| Abstract | In this work, a novel approach for miniaturized liquid-liquid (L-L) extraction was developed. Organic solvents droplets of a few hundred pL were trapped within micro recesses fabricated in the channel walls of microfluidic chips, and analytes in aqueous streams flowing over the droplets were transferred into them, effecting a preconcentration. Enrichment factors exceeding 500 were achieved with a preconcentration period of 15 min, consuming only 6 pL sample. In situ laser induced fluorescence detection of the concentrated analyte was performed following the preconcentration . |
