| Abstract | The objective of this paper was to measure weather condition effects on agricultural productivity in the state of São Paulo, between 1962 and 2002. To that end, total factor productivity was related to the occurrence of both hydric deficiency and frost. The results showed significant impacts of those climatic adversities on productivity levels. The levels of hydric deficiency presented a growing tendency, and the largest falls in the productivity indexes happened in the period of 1991-2002. Estimates based on the results of the models indicated that harvest losses reached considerable values. Key-words: agricultural productivity, production losses, hydric deficiency , frost, Sao Paulo.
