| Abstract | Holistic approach to health problems of patients suffering from cerebral palsy raises the need to apply during the scheduling and evaluation of therapy, not only the clinical and functional assessments, but the assessment of the quality of life as well. For the members of the team it constitutes a valuable source of information on the patient's living standard and the benefits from applying the therapy. Aim of the study. The aim of the study was to measure the quality of life of children and adolescents suffering from cerebral palsy and to assess the selected social and demographic conditionings thereof. Material and methods. The study covered 285 people with cerebral palsy, attending the selected education facilities in Poland. The research tool was the Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL), Generic Core and CP Module. In the statistical analysis the univariate analysis of variance (ANOVA) and the Pearson linear correlation were employed. Results. The results of both scales indicate a decreased level of the quality of life of children and adolescents suffering from cerebral palsy, compared to healthy children. Gender is not of significance to the value of HRQOL. Age is connected with the assessments of physical and emotional functioning in the generic scale, as well as pain and fatigue in the specific scale. |
