| Abstract | Ion scattering spectroscopy (LEIS) was used in conjunction with temperature-programmed desorption (TPD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) for the study of the adsorption of ethyl iodide on clean and oxygen covered Ru(001) surfaces. The data suggest that ethyl iodide forms chemisorbed, physisorbed second (bilayer) and condensed multilayer on clean surface. On oxygen-precovered Ru(001) ethyl iodide molecules bond preferentially to Ru sites but very close to oxygen adatoms holding together by Coulomb forces. # 2003 Elsevier Science B.V.
