| Abstract | The operator-guided dispatching process is concerned with the regulation of train sequences and the conveyance of dispatching solutions. Two important dispatching solutions that can be implemented are a change in the train sequence, and command sent from the dispatcher to the locomotive driver with driving speed instructions; the form of the command depends on the technical equipment of the locomotive. This paper describes the method developed to automatically calculate the basis, including the regulated train movements, needed in order for a command to be sent to the locomotive driver. The emphasis of this paper is on the automatic creation of a conflictfree dispatcher and forecasted timetable. The timetable is calculated in compliance with the dispatched sequence of trains and the physical drivability of the calculated train paths. For each step of the method, different algorithms are presented and tested with several case studies. The most important aspects of this new method are: The dynamic vehicle calculation of the train paths result in a continuous velocity function. Depending on the situation, different types of conflicts between two trains can be identified. The determination of the basis, including the regulation of the train movements, is carried out at the same time as the dispatching process with no additional work for the dispatcher. This paper, which describes the calculation of a conflict-free dispatcher and forecasted timetable, provides additional insights into the topic of train movement regulation. Furthermore, this paper identifies several recommendations for future development on this topic. |
