| Abstract | Aiming to significantly improve the biocompatibility of ventricular assist devices, we are developing a blood flow modeling environment for rotary blood pumps. The main components of this environment are: stabilized space-time finite element formulation of Navier-Stokes equations, mesh adaptation capability based on shear-slip mesh update method and elastic mesh update method, and portable message-passing implementation suitable for distributed-memory parallel computers including Linux clusters. We outline the current state of that environment, and present results of a mesh-refinement study and scaling measurements. |
