Abstract	Resumo O presente trabalho objetiva avaliar a distribuicao normal, gama, log-normal e Weibull na analise de precipitacao maxima mensal e anual na cidade de Joao Pessoa, Paraiba. Foi utilizada uma serie historica de precipitacoes pluviometrica mensal e anual, periodo de janeiro de 1980 a dezembro de 2009. A aderencia das distribuicoes as condicoes pluviometricas foi verificada via teste de Kolmogorov- Sminorv. Os resultados mostraram que no periodo chuvoso os melhores ajustes dos dados foram para as distribuicoes Gama, Normal e Weibull. O mes de janeiro, agosto e novembro nao apresentaram ajuste a distribuicao Log-Normal. No periodo seco, predominou a distribuicao Normal e Gama. O mes de setembro nao apresentou ajuste satisfatorio a distribuicao Weibull. A chuva total anual teve ajuste satisfatorio para as distribuicoes Gama, Normal, Log-Normal e Weibull. A distribuicao Log-Normal apresentou os maiores valores de precipitacao diaria anual para os periodos de retorno de 100, 500, 1000 e 10000 anos. Palavras-chave: Distribuicao. Precipitacao maxima. Abstract This study aims to evaluate the normal distribution, gamma, lognormal and Weibull analysis of the monthly and annual maximum rainfall in the city of Joao Pessoa, Paraiba. A historical series of monthly and annual rainfall rainfall, from January 1980 to December 2009. The compliance of the distributions to rainfall conditions was verified via Kolmogorov- Sminorv test was used. The results showed that in the rainy season the best data adjustments were for distributions Gamma, Normal and Weibull. The month of January, August and November were not setting the Log-Normal distribution. During the dry season, dominated the Normal and Gamma distribution. The month of September was not sufficient adjustment to the Weibull distribution. The total annual rainfall was satisfactory adjustment for distributions Gamma, Normal, Lognormal and Weibull.
