| Abstract | The paving generally require large financial investments, often resulting from the mismatch between the ground and the flooring system to be employed. Sometimes, one can employ techniques to improve the soil and the addition of cement in order to obtain an improvement of the mechanical properties and consequent increase in the ultimate strength of the soil. The use of soil-cement for soil stabilization is a technique already well known, but little explored. In this study, we sought to evaluate the mechanical behavior of soil-cement mixtures for resistance to simple compression, as well as the influence of cement content. In the experimental part, there were tests to characterize the soil from Lajeado, RS. The characterization of the soil, percentages specimens were molded with 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11% Portland cement for further compressive test. It was found that the addition of cement for this type of soil provides significant improvements in compressive strength. It is also observed that the final result depends on the cement content added to the sample and the degree of compression used. |
