Abstract	In the title coordination complex, [Zn(C(22)H(12)O(6))(H(2)O)(2)](n) or [Zn(H(2)nba)(H(2)O)(2)](n) (H(2)nba is 2,2'-dihydr-oxy-1,1'-bi-naph-thyl-3,3'-dicarboxyl-ate), the Zn(II) atom is coordinated by three H(2)nba ligands and two water molecules, resulting in a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. In the crystal structure, adjacent Zn(II) atoms are linked by two H(2)nba ligands, forming one-dimensional ribbons along the c axis. These ribbons are further assembled into layers parallel to the bc plane via O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.
