| Abstract | This study aimed to correlate the tar sands sedimentary eolic facies of the Piramboia formation with organic geochemistry characteristics of the oils contained in each one. These tar sands outcrops in Betumita Farm in central eastern part of Sao Paulo State, and are impregnated with oil modified by secondary alteration process, such as biodegradation and water washing. The samples were collected during field work and cataloged according to its sedimentary facies. The samples were analyzed by extraction of soluble organic matter, calculating its oil saturation and after the oil fractions were separated by liquid chromatography. In face of the results obtained could be conclude a correlation between the type of facies and the oil geochemistry characteristics, as well as the fractions of oil in each facies when occur the secondary alteration process |
