Abstract	This article aims to analyze the development of dynamic innovation capacity of small and medium - sized enterprises (SMEs), exporters in the metal - mechanical sector of Barranquilla, Colombia. Methodologically, it has a quantitative approach, non-experimental crosssectional design and descriptive scope. The results highlight the insufficiency of practices that enhance the development of dynamic innovation capacity. It is concluded that the use of capacities and resources, strengthen the development of innovation processes that generate competitive advantages.
