Abstract	This study aims to propose a methodology composed of indicators of water management capable of measuring the performance of municipalities. For this, an applied and exploratory literature and qualitative research was conducted. The purpose of this study is shown as a tool that can be adopted by policy makers and other stakeholders to visualize a core of viable alternatives for solving problems related to water resources management in municipalities, inherent to water sources, water demands, water management, urban management in relation to water, social, economic and environmental impacts and environmental preservation.
