| Abstract | (Prototype for the Automated Monitoring of Water Quality Parameters in a Shrimp Farm) In Aquaculture one of the most important aspects to take care of is the adequate monitoring and control of the parameters that determine the water quality such as dissolved oxygen, pH, salinity and temperature; since these parameters directly affect the growth and development of cultivated organisms. The present work proposes a low-cost prototype for the automated monitoring of water quality parameters in shrimp farms. The system consists of three nodes: a sensor node, a coordinating node and a publishing node. The sensor node integrates sensors, microcontroller, radio transceiver and a solar power source which senses water quality and transmits this data to the coordinating node wirelessly; The coordinating node receives and extracts the transmitted data packet and downloads it for storage. In the publishing node, users can consult the sensed parameters in a PC through a graphical interface. The developed system offers a technological tool for the adequate monitoring of parameters that allows to make better decisions to achieve a greater productivity and profitability. |
