| Abstract | This proposal discusses the aim of the thesis, which is the de nition and investigation of a multi-agent framework for designing parallel classi er systems. This framework, called Parallel Cooperative Classi er System (PCCS), consists of a pool of single-agent classi er systems that learn in parallel to solve the same task and cooperate. First, we emphasise some limitations of the single-agent approach, and explain why a multi-agent approach can better exploit massive parallelism. Then, we present some preliminary results obtained with two PCCSs. These results show that de ning parallel classi er systems involves speci c issues that do not arise in a sequential framework. Our goal is to analyse the problems of designing parallel classi er systems based on the PCCS approach, as well as the additional learning mechanisms that may be required to solve them. |
