| Abstract | The purpose of this article is to reflect on the so-called social dimension of sustainability. To do so, it brings, first, a general account of the fundamental rights provided for in the 1988 Federal Constitution and its relation to the right to the environment; then, it addresses the principle of the dignity of the human person in consonance with the existential minimum, characterized by the basic elements necessary to confer to the citizen the minimum necessary for his subsistence. In the end, it discusses the dimensions of sustainability, dealing more specifically with the social dimension, consisting of the relationship established between the fundamental rights of the human person and the right to the environment, and the principle of sustainability. It concludes that respect for the dignity of the human person is closely linked to sustainable development, since one can not have the latter without consideration of the former. The method used in this article was the inductive. |
