| Abstract | This work aims to characterize preliminarily by XRD, SEM-EDS a soil (feozem haplic) of the river basin of Rio de las Avenidas in south of the city of Pachuca. The sampling site was selected based on previous studies by analyzing orthophotos, and various tours of the area, a representative sample was obtained of a wall cutting into an infrastructure work in accordance with the regulations of the SCT. The sample quartering and preparation was analyzed by XRD, it determined that this soil mineralogy is dominated by quartz (01-082-0511), and middle and lower proportion of high-pressure quartz α (01-079-1914) and kaolinite (00-003-0059) and a small proportion of albite (99-100-0713), it is important to note that α quartz has a high density with respect to the dominant quartz. Meanwhile, by SEM typical albite twinning was observed in some samples, also, the analysis by EDS showed the TOPICOS DE INVESTIGACION EN CIENCIAS DE LA TIERRA Y MATERIALES VOL 2 (2015) AACTyM-Universidad Autonoma del Estado de Hidalgo ISSN: 2395-8405 62 felsic affinity of the sample. According with the last and considering the importance of climate and parent material as factors in soil formation, it has for the annual rainfall in the city of Pachuca and the geological formations that provided the material (rocks predominantly felsic), kaolinite clay mineral is present in the soil. |
