| Abstract | Primary soot particle sizing by time-resolved laser-induced incandescence (TR-LII) imaging in a flat, laminar sooty C2H4/air flame is demonstrated in the present work. The primary soot size is determined by fitting the LII signals recorded by four subsequent images to the theoretical LII temporal decays relationship. A low laser power was chosen, to induce weak soot particle sublimations, in a laminar premixed sooty flame. A mean size of 13 nm was measured for the primary particles. This, and the size distributions of soot particles, is in good agreement with the time-resolved single-point-measurements and by sampling methods. |
