| Abstract | The valley of the Aiguebrun, in the municipality of Buoux, is one of the oldest site occupied by human. Thanks to research since the nineteenth century, it is known that the presence of people dates from the Middle Paleolithic and this occupation lasted intermittently with very favorable conditions. During great historic periods, communities one after the other left important and diverse testimony. Then, after gradual decline of agricultural activity, natural vegetation had progressively taken over on abandoned space. Nowadays, the valley has a wild appearance which is a constant attraction for visitors who mostly ignore the fragility of the place that combines nature and culture. It seems to be now destined to abandon and damage. Considering this, the municipality decided to manage this space trough the Sensitive natural area management policy (Vaucluse department), entrusting the management plan elaboration to the Luberon Regional Park. After the first studies on the various themes dealing with the natural environment, a mission has been initiated to prepare an assessment on the role of people in this high-quality space. |
