| Abstract | New generations of particle accelerators need accurate beam diagnostics. In order to measure the longitudinal pro le of electron bunches, a promising non-invasive technique has been developed, using coherent Smith-Purcell radiation. Smith-Purcell radiation is emitted when a relativistic electron passes over a periodic structure. This report presents a method to simulate this radiation according to the van den Berg model, which describes the incident electron as a set of evanescent plane waves. The work is restricted to emitted radiations that belong to the plane of incidence, but there could be a theoretical extension to a more general description based on conical di raction. |
