| Abstract | This thesis applies an inelastic overload analysis to two steel multigirder highway bridges by using the finite element method. The previously developed computer program (BOVAS; Bridge Overload Analysis-Steel) was modified from a research to a production oriented tool in phase one of this research by simplifying the input-output options. The results of phase one were a detailed and a simplified version of the modified program. The reliability of the detailed version of the modified program.was verified in phase two of this research by comparisons of analytical results and laboratory or field overload test results. Before presenting the comparisons, a brief description of the analytical method and assumptions is included in this report. |
