| Abstract | Knowledge of electron – phonon coupling is essential for the understanding of many properties of carbon nanotubes. We present a comparative study of the coupling of electrons to totally symmetric phonons: the radial-breathing mode and the high-energy mode. The coupling of the high-energy mode is stronger than of the radial-breathing mode by a factor of ≈ 6. In both cases the matrix elements depend on chirality, diameter, family, and transition energy. |
