| Abstract | This paper provides a general model of scoring auctions in which scoring rules is not restricted in quasi-linear forms. We found that, if the price-bid in the scoring rule is on the basis of the price-quality ratio (PQR), i.e., the price bid divided by a function of non-monetary attributes, an intense competition induces undercutting the provision of non-monetary attributes, which further drives down the price bid in equilibrium. In addition, unlike the case of quasi-linear scoring rules, equivalence in expected winning scores across scoring auction formats fails under PQR scoring rules. |
