| Abstract | This paper refers to the historical development of the profession of Speech Language Therapy, seeking to characterize the ethos of the profession from the bioethical analysis looking synthesize the historical development of the Colombian Speech Language Therapy based on the need for discipline in the country, the professional model the characteristics of this service and labor sectors from early years to the present, look into the history of the profession practice and bioethical issues from the experiences of speech therapists practicing. This study mixed type is carried out through document review and fieldwork for qualitative descriptive analysis whose results show a critical situation of the profession with a negative impact on the visibility and positioning specifically in the health stage. Fieldwork exposes the need to involve the whole community to face and take appropriate decisions and implement strategies to promote the professional practice both in quality and changes in the care model with a humanistic, comprehensive, equitable perspective and fair. |
