| Abstract | This paper informs about the identity configuration of young people who experienced a relative’s forced disappearance during their childhood; it is aimed to recognize how they configure their identity after that event. For that, we adopted a qualitative approach from the theory of social constructionism. Our findings indicate that young’s identity is formed in a violent social context, where social practices are established around a relative’s forced disappearance. These young people have configured their identity in the middle of a reconfigured family, because of the uncertainty produced by the body absence , the social compelling need of hiding the event, and the fact that the rest of the family do not name the event. We found out that there are two tendencies in the way young people configure their identity: the first one oriented to reconstruction and the second one, to loss. |
