| Abstract | Migration is a new trend. People have been migrating to different places for various purposes. Migration has become more common due to easy communication and contact with their kith and kin. Yet migrants experience stress and it demands emotional, social, cultural,educational and economic adjustments. Gulbarga is one of the most backward and fifth populated district of Karnataka .It is known for its multi-religious and multi-cultural society. People from different states such as Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, North and North-East are settled down here for various reasons such as education, business, and employment and settled here after given in marriage. This study evaluates the Socio-Cultural Adjustment of Non-Kannadiga migrants and their adjustment problems and prospects .This study is carried out among 160 Non-Kannadiga migrants in Gulbarga city belonging to different states settled here for various purposes . The researcher used questionnaire and interviewed few people to collect the data. The findings of the study reveals that 31% of the non-kannadig as are somewhat interested in the culture of the locality .39% of them feel that the longer they stayed they got used to the place.70% of them knows to speak Kannada fluently and are having Kannadiga as their friend .The study shows that most of them are socially and culturally adjusted to the place and are happy to be part of Gulbarga. |
