| Abstract | In most educational institutions, chemistry is usually taught in an expository way with the help of master classes, where concepts are presented as something finished so the only option for students is memorization. This situation is the cause of a lack of motivation and interest in the subject, on the part of students. In fact, they perceive the subject as something difficult and abstract without any kind of usefulness for daily life. With a view to finding a solution to this problem, corroborated by several bibliographic sources, we are presenting a sequence of contextual activities, through which it is pretended to reach a meaningful learning, escaping from simple memorization, that doesn't contribute to a real transfer of knowledge. The intervention proposal we are raising focuses on a constructivist paradigm, where all previous knowledge, through which an individual builds his own knowledge, will be taken into account. We will use the CTS approach to contextualize concepts and to help students to acquire a basic scientific literacy that allows them to understand the relationship between science and society and provides them with the necessary tools to understand the world that surrounds them. A situated learning is expected through the use of different methodologies in order to eliminate the decontextualized image of Science that the students have. |
