Abstract	Brazil occupies large space in the global fruit market. Currently, the melon has a prominent position on the staff of national exports, with more fruit exported by the country. Its production is concentrated in the states of Ceara and Rio Grande do Norte. Such states invested in boosting and expanding the production of this product. Thus, this study aims to analyze the existing competition between the states of Ceara and Rio Grande do Norte in the export of melon between the years 1997 to 2014. To this end, we used the Revealed Comparative Advantage Index Vollrath. The database obtained through MDIC / SECEX which covered about recipe and quantities melon exported by the two states. The results show that by late 1997, the State of Rio Grande do Norte had a high competitiveness index in the export melon, practically the only exporter in this period. However, from the 2000s, Ceara advances in their participation in producer and export market, arriving in the mid to overcome the Rio Grande do Norte. Elevation was found in the percentage of exports from Ceara, parallel to the fall in exports potiguares. These results implicated in the rise of comparative advantage in exports, despite the maintenance of incides by the Rio Grande do Norte.
