Abstract	The free vibration analysis of plates resting on a two-parameter elastic medium is studied through a finite element procedure. The associated shape functions are derived from the solution of a beam resting on the two-parameter medium. A parametric study is conducted to identify the influence of various factors on the mode shapes and natural frequencies.
