Abstract	We present a summary of research carried out mostly over the past decade by our group, on the behavior and ecology of lizard species of Liolaemus and Phymaturus, from Argentina. We investigated on their communication, territoriality, mate choice, function of female nuptial coloration, relation between diet and reproductive state, parental care, and phylogeny of sand burying behavior. We briefly describe each of these topics and we report the more relevant results. Besides the intrinsic value of this type of studies, they can provide valuable information that can be used in the elaboration of management strategies and conservation of animal species, particularly in this group of Iguania in which many species are endemic and often poorly known.
