Abstract	The paper presents results of field calculations for a single phase capacitor motor with tapped stator windings. The Sh71�2A motor magnetic circuit windin gs for two speeds were designed. The 2D computational motor model was worked out and calculations of the motor transient state during starting were performed. The quasistatic motor characteristics for two connecti on systems were determined. Computation results of the starting torque as a function of the rotor position at the locked rotor are presented. The static characteristics computed are compared with the measurement results of a prototype motor.
