Abstract	In May 1992, Jun ltakura started his work with IlMl as an Irrigation Specialist to carry out research studies on the improvement of water management in inter-connected tanks in the dry zone of Sri Lanka. Mr. ltakura was seconded to IlMl for three years by the Government of Japan under the JICA-IIMI Collaborative Program. He has since returned to work with the Agriculture Improvement Bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in Japan.
