| Abstract | This paper uses German social security micro data to estimate the effects of the introduction of a minimum wage in the construction sector in 1997. We analyze the impact on wages and employment chances of those low-earnings workers likely to be aected by the minimum wage. For lack of data on working hours we estimate the individual probability of falling into the minimum wage regime. This variable is used as a regressor in a dierence-in-dier ences approach. For West Germany we find that the minimum wage has neither remuneration nor employment eects for work |
