Abstract	This paper reviews the most important Polish newspapers and lists their publishers and editors from 1729 to 1914 as well as the research and resources available in this domain. The main body of the paper consists of historical narrative containing 9 sections: 1. Polish newspapers until 1795; 2. Polish newspapers 1795-1815; 3. Newspapers published in the Kingdom of Poland and in the area of Russian partition 1815–1830; 4. Newspapers of Kingdom of Poland and Lithuanian-Russian lands 1832-1864; 5. Newspapers of Kingdom of Poland and Russian partition 1865-1914; 6. Newspapers of Krakow in years 1815-1846; 7. Newspapers published in Galicja 1815-1866; 8. Newspapers published in Galicja 1867-1914; 9. Polish newspapers in Prussia partition 1815-1914 (this chapter contains sections devoted to the press of following regions: Wielkopolska; Warmia i Mazury; Pomorze, Kujawy, Śląsk). A total of 147 publications has been analyzed. The highest number of newspapers had been published in Warszawa (46 titles) and major cities: Lwow (23), Krakow (16), Poznan (13), Wilno (9); 40 titles published in the remaining cities have been analyzed as well. The analysis of state of research in area under discussion is limited to enumerating the most important publications in footnotes. The final part describes the current state of bibliographical information (centralized directories, bibliographies of titles and bibliographies of content) and availability of Polish newspapers 1729-1914 in libraries, including microfilms and digital resources
