Abstract	Despite known forms of prevention and screening, cervical cancer still presents high mortality and is a public health problem. The objective of this study was to elaborate an intervention project aiming to improve cytological examination coverage in the area of coverage of a Arraial / PI Family Health Strategy team. Firstly, a review of the literature was carried out, where papers published in the period from 2010 to 2018 were analyzed as: national journals, technical manuals of the Ministry of Health, Department of Informatics of the National Health System and National Cancer Institute and some articles available in databases of the Virtual Health Library. The intervention project provides for an active search of women between the ages of 25 and 64 years. Training is also planned for the family health team and educational work with the community showing the importance of screening for the decrease in the incidence of cervical cancer. It is expected to develop this intervention, offer health education on cervical cancer prevention and improve the coverage of the respective exam in the prioritized age group. It is concluded that it is necessary to reorganize the health service, mainly by defining specific actions aimed at the health of women. For the municipality where I work this work will be of great importance, as the performance of the UBS team Josefa Barbosa Oliveira, will be more effective, allowing a more comprehensive coverage of women to perform the preventive examination.
