| Abstract | This article presents the main problems encountered in the work of the military police officer responsible for causing post-traumatic stress disorder and burnout syndrome through field research in the 1st Military Police Battalion Anhanguera Battalion. Questionnaires were set up to acquire essential information for the purpose of the work. It was confirmed that the main problems faced by PMGO's work are related to workload, salary, lack of investments and internal problems. In addition, the PM has a profession of constant danger, bringing innumerable types of traumatic situations faced by them throughout the effective. In the research, most traumatic situations refer to death, such as coping with the death of individuals in combat, finding a corpse, missing relatives, or attempting homicide by thugs and shooting in the body in combat. All these negative situations can cause health problems in the employees, confirming that 77% of the responses had work stress, and other possible symptoms are fatigue, weight gain, depression, among others. Stress is the main factor for diseases such as burnout syndrome and post-traumatic stress affect the life of the PM. In this way, research is important to present the problems that the military police have during their work, and that these problems can impact on their health, presenting improvements and investments in the work environment, salary and workload, improving the quality of life of the PMGO. |
