| Abstract | In 1995, the Government of Barbados participated in the Fourth World Conference on women, which was held in Beijing, China. The Barbados Government was one of 189 countries which signed the Beijing Platform for Action, which is a comprehensive agenda outlining the key goals and objectives for achieving women’s rights. The Platform for Action provides a powerful framework for change, nationally, regionally and globally. In fact, it could be argued that one of the significant achievements of the Platform for Action is that it provides a global framework for making connections between national, regional and global realities of gender inequality. |
