| Abstract | Considering that many parameters involved in the restart process of a waxy crude oil pipeline bear uncertainties, a probability-based evaluation model is established in this paper based on reliability. As the solution of such model is associated with a large amount of sampling, time-consuming calculation of numerous samples as well as sample-dependent probability calculation, the computation time of a traditional numerical method is unacceptable. Thus, a series of efficient techniques are proposed for the calculation of the probability-based evaluation model. The proposed series of efficient techniques include an improved Latin Hypercube Sampling method, a reduced-order model and an Interference theory-based probability calculation method. These efficient methods dramatically reduces the computation time, e.g. the time consumed to calculate 50,000 samples is reduced from 2 years to 30 hours by using a personal computer, with making the calculation of restart failure probability of a crude oil pipeline feasible in oil transportation engineering. |
