| Abstract | The first part of the article presents the definition of a digital library. In the main part of the publication the authors present the Pedagogical Digital Library (PBC) - the beginnings of its activity, the characteristics of the collections and the principles of functioning. In the next part of the article the principles of PBC operation are discussed and the digitization processes used in the library are explained. The principles of cooperation with other institutions are also presented. The following part of the article describes in detail the thematic collections included in the PBC resource. The main emphasis is placed on one of the key collections - the "Museum of the Handbook". The last section presents statistics on the use of PBC. The article is based on the information available on the website (http://pbc.up.krakow.pl - collection layout, statistics, etc.), professional literature, internal documentation of the department, and on the professional experience of the authors. |
