Abstract	The Ouargla basin is located in hyperarid north Africa and characterized by an endoreic landscape ðplayaÞ with Solonchak ðaccumulated soluble saltsÞ and Gypsisol ðaccumulated gypsumÞ soils, and subsurface groundwater.
