Abstract	Canine in vitro maturation rate (IVM) has been traditionally low. In the present study evaluated the IVM of canine oocytes, considering the stage of the follicular development and the phases of the estrous cycles. The oocytes were collected from ovaries from ovariohysterectomized bitches according sizes of developing follicles throughout the estrus cycle. The phases of the estrous cycle (anestrus, proestrous/estrus and diestrus) were assessed by evaluating the presence or absence of follicles and corpus luteum on the ovarian surface and by progesterone analysis. The oocytes were incubated for IVM for 72 h
