| Abstract | Background: The transition is health-disease starts at the time it is diagnosed with a disease. Many health-illness transitions begin in the emergency department and extend the intensive care units. Objective: To analyze a real situation of care according to the Theory of Transitions in an adult which was diagnosed type 1 diabetes in diabetic ketoacidosis phase.. Main topics for analysis: He thought up on the provision of care to the person in critical condition in intensive care level II unit, not only the clinical aspect but also for purposes of transitions healthdisease experienced by the person and family. This theory allowed evaluating the nature of the transition, facilitating and inhibiting conditions as well as the response patterns, allowing the adequacy of nursing interventions to the uniqueness of the person under investigation. Conclusions: The completion of this case study allowed reflect on the importance of nursing care in view of the transition experienced by the person and family. |
