Abstract	This dissertation discusses the issue of open access to knowledge within the National Institute of Cardiology (INC), linked to the Ministry of Health, which incorporates in its mission three fundamental axes for the promotion of cardiovascular health: teaching, research and assistance, with the objective of train professionals, develop and disseminate knowledge and technologies for the development of the SUS. As a teaching hospital (HE), the main focus of this work is to investigate its knowledge production spaces in order to contribute with strategies that guide the policy of Open Access to Information in the Institution. It is therefore, the identification and categorization of the typology of knowledge produced for the purpose of wide dissemination to society within the scope of the Open Access Movement, with the institutional repository (IR) as a tool that preserves the institution's scientific memory and gives visibility to their production. Identified from the perspective of their professionals, these records of knowledge gives clear indications about the intellectual production of the institution and point to a clear vector of adherence to RI. Issues related to the legal and ethical aspects of the opening of this knowledge to society reinforce the previous understanding recorded in the literature of the area that these are fundamental dimensions to be considered by institutions when composing their policies of opening the knowledge
