| Abstract | The babassu shows importance of ecologic, social and politic. It is a resource extractive oleifero, its exploitation involves the work of thousands of families and occurs the period between harvests such as corn and soybean meal, contributing thus to the maintenance of these families, and helping to stem the rural exodus, as well as play a vital role in the maintenance of soil fertility. The babassu mesocarp layer is light brown located after the epicarp, with high energy, rich in starch and fiber. From the mesocarp many products are made, with emphasis flour, used in food and feed by presenting organic content and mineral constituents essential to human and animal nutrition. |
