| Abstract | The appearence of new digital technologies has opened new gates for local broadcasting companies as it has make DTT become the central axis of the whole communication process among the local broadcasters. First, this kind of broadcasters must face all the legal requirements imposed by the Basque Government for the development of local television broadcasting, while the Spanish state legislation is developed around groups of municipalities called demarcations. Added to the legal questions, the appearance of new production routines and the ability of offering to the public a whole new series of services added to their traditional contents, introduce new items in addition to those factors that have usually helped in the building of the definition for local television, as coverage, contents and the ytraditional social function developed by this kind of broadcasters. |
