| Abstract | This work describes a shared on-line laboratory based on reconfigurable platforms with network communication. Labomat-Web is a simple approach to Internet reconfigurable logic system design methodology with educational purposes. The Laboratory (http://www.ii.uam.es/~laboweb/LabWeb) is currently outfitted with the Labomat3 board powered by a Motorola MC68360 microprocessor associated with two mid-range Field Programmable Gate Array devices, memory circuits and an Ethernet network interface. A client-server architecture has been developed in order to provide a multi-platform solution. A group of services and tools make possible to load the hardware modules specifically designed for the reconfigurable resources. The user interface is a Web browser. The Web site is complemented with a remote server to compile C source code for the MC68360 microprocessor. The laboratory has been successfully used for student exercises in several hardware design courses. The experiments include the design of dedicated systems comprising hardware and software components, as well as the exploration of the interfaces between both parts. It is possible for students to go beyond simulation, testing their designs with real hardware, thus allowing them to face problems that do generally not appear in simulation.
