| Abstract | The broad adaptability of cowpea in hot climates (humid and semi-arid) favors its cultivation in the North and Northeast, mainly by family farmers. In this context, the search for early-cycle cultivars has increased due to the great advantages that this factor offers, such as better crop planning and reduction of crop costs. For this reason, the objective of this work was to evaluate the precocity of cowpea genotypes originating from the Preliminary Income Test of Embrapa Meio-Norte, two cultivars and 12 lineages, under no-tillage conditions in the city of Feira de Santana-BA . The experiment was conducted at the experimental unit Horto Florestal, State University of Feira de Santana-BA, in a randomized block design, with four replications. The number of days for flowering (NDF) was evaluated, which corresponded to the count of days from sowing until the day 50% of the plants in each plot had at least one open flower. For this, the plants were observed daily and after the emergence of the first flower. Five analyzes were performed, with intervals of five days between them. The data were submitted to analysis of variance, and the Scott & Knott (1974) test was used for the comparison of averages at the 5% and 1% significance levels using the Sisvar software. It was verified that line 10, Goldfinch 15-10, was the earliest genotype, emitting flower at 24.50 days after emergencies and that the other strains and cultivars did not differ statistically as to the number of days for early flowering. |
