| Abstract | The objective of the study was to determine the dry matter yield and plant height for Cynodon nlemfuensis and Brachiaria hybrid under two organic fertilization schemes and a conventional fertilization scheme. This study was carryied out from June through September, 2014 in Santa Elisa Farm, Honduras. Treatments were 11.6 MT/ha of chicken littler 22.7 MT/ha of bocashi organic fertilizer and 550 kg/ha of conventional fertilizer containing a mixture of 0.22 kg/m2 of 18-46-0, KCl, Nitroextend and Sulpomag. Treatments were compare to a control treatment that did not received fertilization. Two plots of 64 m2 were assigned for each pasture which were subdivided into four subplots of 16 m2 for each treatment with two replicates each for a total of 16 experimental units. Variables analyzed included dry matter yields and plant height for each pasture variables were taken three times with a 21-day interval. For both pastures, organic fertilizer reported higher yields for dry matter and plant heights in contrast to conventional fertilizers. It is recommended that soil analysis are done or taken into account, in order to understand treatment effects over time. |
